Scissor Sisters – Magic Hour
While this story is about a year old I still like reading up on juicy gossip form the past that slipped past me. Apparently there was more then just controversy surrounding Rihanna’s single “S&M” from last year. First, the U.K. censored a handful of the lyrics and changed the title to “Come On”; then the song’s video was banned in 11 countries; and as of February last year celebrity photographer David LaChapelle claimed that the highly-hued video is a direct copy of his stylistic imagery from many of his photo shoots.
LaChapelle, who has worked with Rihanna in the past on various photo shoots, was pretty pissed when we saw the video. He tweeted to both Rihanna and Perez Hilton (who appears at the end of RiRi’s leash in the vid), “The next time you make a David LaChapelle video you should probably hire David LaChapelle.” (The tweet has since been removed.)
So what dod you do when someone steals your shizz? You Sue! In the LaChapelle lawsuit, his attorneys claimed that “the music video was directly derived from and substantially similar to the David’s works” in regards to the “composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colors, props, settings, decors, wardrobe and lighting”.
Take a look for yourself.
Well it wasn’t really Rihanna but the director of her video Melina how has to face the the music.

OHHH BABY!!! It sounds like the President’s views on marriage just got even gayer.
Somewhat buried in CNN’s story on Barack Obama’s fundraiser in New York is this little tidbit about his administration’s plans for marriage equality—
He also outlined goals he hopes to accomplish under a second term, including the repeal of the Defense Of Marriage Act, which the administration has already stopped defending.
This is the first time Obama has said that he will actively work to repeal the law.
At the fundraiser, hosted by openly gay pop star Ricky Martin, Obama called same-sex marriage the “right thing to do.” He also said that contrary to what many rightwing pundits have alleged, marriage equality will help families.
I want everyone treated fairly in this country. We have never gone wrong when we’ve extended rights and responsibilities to everybody. That doesn’t weaken families, that strengthens families.
The President also touched on his freshly out same-sex marriage stance on The View. The segment, which he taped today, will air on ABC tomorrow.
According to some White House officials, Obama had intended to speak out in favor of marriage equality on the talk show, but he was spurred forward by Joe Biden’s early endorsement.

The 30-year-old Balfour has been found guilty of three counts of first-degree murder, which carries a mandatory life sentence.
Hudson was in the courtroom as the verdict was read, and the former American Idol finalist was reportedly in tears as she heard the guilty verdict come down.
According to the Associated Press, jurors came to the decision after three days of deliberation in the case against Balfour, who was previously married to Hudson’s sister Julia. Prosecutors described the brutal slayings as an act of vengeance by a jilted husband who grew jealous of Julia’s relationship with another man.
At one point, the jury was split on the decision, sending the judge a note indicating that they were at an impasse, but made clear that they intended to continue their deliberations.
Hudson attended every day of the trial and was called to testify when it opened April 23, 2012.
With sadness but gladness, What a great Mothers Day Victory for J-Hud and her family! Congratulations on your family’s victory Jennifer!
